Cory Monteith Tribute, one year later.
While we reflect on Cory’s passing one year later, I wanted to capture even a glimpse of the massive outpouring of love, support, and remembrance from fans all around the world last year, while also touching on Cory’s (and Finn’s) spirit and the great loss that we, his family, and his friends have suffered.
Note: This tribute features footage of the Vancouver Police statement, three fan memorials from around the globe, and interview footage of Cory as well as his castmates. (Just so viewers aren’t blindsided by something they’re not prepared for.)
I’m reblogging myself (and this picture, again ;)… and I’ll do it again) because I wanted to make a little comment. I know this particular post only has one hundred something reblogs, but I’ve seen others with over 5,000 etc. (music posts, too!) that are using this photo. This is my favorite photo of him for a number of reasons.
1. Because I took it.
2. I’m hardly a photographer, but I managed to capture what I feel is this man in a nutshell. Light. Joy. A smile to match no other. Pure love. I just love the way the light isn’t only shining upon him… it’s shining through him.
3. Cory loved it. And I am glee-ful, that with all that he has given me, I could give him that.
4. That so many other people enjoy and love Cory in this photo and remember him for the light that he was for us all.
I’m very proud of this photo. Again, I’m far from a photographer, and I get a great happiness at seeing it around tumblr, and people enjoying it. But also for this reason, if you post or see it posted, please remember where it came from and credit me - as the photo itself truly means so much to me. RIP, Cory.
“He was very special to me, and also to the world. And we were very lucky to witness his incredible talent, his handsome smile, and his beautiful, beautiful heart. So whether you knew him personally, or just as Finn Hudson, Cory reached out, and he became a part of all of our hearts, and that’s where he’ll stay forever.” - Lea Michele
Happy Birthday Cory Allan Michael Monteith (May 11th, 1982)
